My personal story

Every Child Deserves A Champion

I never share my story without letting you know that I’m telling it through the lens of my autism, learning disabilities (in reading, writing, and math), my past struggles with illiteracy, and how I see the world as a Black woman who grew up in a multicultural, multigenerational family. These experiences shape how I approach every aspect of my life, including my work.

I grew up in Denver, CO, raised by my grandmother, a single parent and foster mother, who taught me the values of integrity and hard work. She always said, “No job is too big or too small for you to bring your best self.” As I made my way through school, I faced challenges that I didn’t fully understand at the time. I didn’t know I had learning disabilities or that I was autistic, but I knew something wasn’t right—I wasn’t learning the way others seemed to.

Years later, I had to navigate a world that didn’t always understand or accommodate my needs. I had to find my strengths, develop skills, learn to communicate effectively and help my children—and myself—learn in ways that worked for us. This journey has led me through various fields, each one teaching me something new and valuable.

Throughout these experiences, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible people in each industry. These connections and experiences have shaped the skills and knowledge I bring to the table today.

So, welcome to my story. I’m excited to share this journey with you and to explore how we can learn and grow together.
